Monitoring

Price the feed, not just the device

A wearable can be cheap at checkout and expensive over five years. Add memberships, replacement sensors, premium reports, accessories, data-export limits and the time spent reacting to noisy signals.

Interactive

Five-year monitoring cost calculator

Enter your realistic device, subscription and consumable costs. The calculator runs locally in the browser and stores nothing.

Five-year cost formula

Initial hardware + (monthly membership × 60) + (annual consumables × 5) + replacement hardware.

Example: €350 + (€5.99 × 60) + (€0 × 5) + €350 = about €1,059 over five years.

Decision filter

Keep a feed only when it changes behaviour

Signal

Is the metric sufficiently reliable for the decision? Consumer sleep stages and calorie estimates are not direct clinical measurements.

Action

Write the action in advance: “If seven-day average X changes by Y, I will do Z.” Without an action, the feed is entertainment.

Exit

Set a cancellation date. Keep the tool only if adherence, symptoms or a validated metric improved enough to justify annual cost.
